Nobivac® DHP is a combined vaccine containing live attenuated strains of canine distemper virus, canine adenovirus and canine parvovirus grown in cell culture. The three viruses are mixed and freeze-dried. The vaccine is presented in a single dose.

Not less than 10pfu canine adenovirus (Manhattan LPV3).
Not less than 107 TCID50 canine parvovirus.

STORAGE

  • Store in the dark between 2 °C and 8 °C.
  • Do not freeze.
  • Avoid prolonged or repetitive exposure to high ambient temperatures.
  • The solvent may be stored at room temperature.
  • Allow the vaccine to gradually reach room temperature (20 °C to 25 °C) prior to use.
  • Protect from direct sunlight.

TARGET SPECIES
Dogs

WARNINGS

  • Avoid intravenous injection.
  • Following initial vaccination, dogs should not be exposed to infection for at least 14 days.
  • Hypersensitivity reactions following administration are rare but as with all vaccines it may occasionally be encountered. In this event, administration of adrenaline injection may be indicated.
  • Do not store partially used containers for future use and use the entire contents once opened.
  • Destroy any unused vaccine and empty vaccine containers according to local waste disposal regulations, after vaccination.
  • KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN, UNINFORMED PERSONS AND ANIMALS.
  • Although this vaccine has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions, failure thereof may ensue as a result of a wide range of reasons. If this is suspected, seek veterinary advice and notify the registration holder.

PRECAUTIONS

  • Only healthy dogs and puppies should be vaccinated.
  • Observe aseptic precautions. Ensure that the vaccination equipment (needles, syringes, etc) are clean and sterile prior to use.
  • Avoid contamination of the vaccine with traces of disinfectant and spirits.
  • It is good vaccination practice when handling the vaccine to avoid contact with the eyes, hands and clothing.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE – USE ONLY AS DIRECTED
The contents of one vial of reconstituted vaccine should be injected subcutaneously in the neck or chest region, observing the usual aseptic precautions.
Reconstitute immediately prior to use by the addition of the contents of 1 vial (1 mℓ) Nobivac® Lepto (canine leptospirosis vaccine) or 1 vial (1 mℓ) Nobivac® Rabies or 1 vial of Nobivac® Solvent.

Vaccination Programmes
The preferred age for vaccination of puppies against canine distemper and canine hepatitis is 12 weeks of age as this is probably the earliest age at which residual maternal antibody against these diseases will have waned to levels unlikely to interfere with the immune response. The preferred age for vaccination of puppies against parvovirus disease is the earliest time at which residual maternal antibody against parvovirus will have waned to levels unlikely to interfere with the immune response. In most cases this age is between 6 and 9 weeks, but in individual puppies with very high levels of immunity vaccination at 12 weeks of age would be advisable.
The following recommendations are included since it is likely that immunisation with Nobivac® DHP will form part of a more comprehensive vaccination programme:
Where the maternal antibody status of a pup is unknown or where it is known to be of a low order:

1st vaccination: 1 dose Nobivac® Puppy DP reconstituted with solvent at 6 weeks.

2nd vaccination: 1 dose Nobivac® DHP reconstituted with Nobivac® Lepto at 9 weeks.

3rd vaccination: 1 dose Nobivac® DHP reconstituted with Nobivac® Lepto and Nobivac® Rabies at 12 weeks.

REVACCINATION
It is recommended that dogs be revaccinated against:
i) Canine Distemper, canine hepatitis, canine parvovirus – every 2 to 3 years.
ii) Rabies – every 3 years (it may be modified to comply with local regulations).
